Home movie day

ENTRE

Home Movie Day is an annual event organized by ENTRE, a local film center. The event celebrates the personal and historical value of home movies, providing a space for the community to share, preserve, and reflect on the power of personal storytelling through film. This year, it coincided with Día de los Muertos, inspiring me to incorporate cultural elements into the design.

I aimed to capture the warmth and nostalgia of home movies by creating a video poster featuring real home footage, blending emotion with the event’s visual identity. Used as part of the event’s social media marketing, the poster reflected the intimate, lived-in feel of home movies while celebrating storytelling through film.

The print poster and zine centered around a Día de los Muertos altar, incorporating marigolds, candles, photographs, and sugar skulls to honor memories of loved ones. To highlight the archival nature of Home Movie Day, I included film reels, cameras, VHS tapes, and cassettes, emphasizing the preservation of personal history through media.

All marketing materials for this project were created in both English and Spanish to ensure accessibility and engagement within the Rio Grande Valley community. This bilingual approach helped spread the word and invited a broader audience to take part in preserving and sharing their personal film history.
